"WEEEEEEH!" - Shrimp

Shrimp is our second cat and he was born on 31st August 2023. We brought him home when he was three months old. Previously, we had only had adult cats in the house, so having a kitten around for the first time took a lot of getting used to!

When we first met him at the animal rescue, they told us that he was shy. The second he was away from his siblings, that faded and he demanded the spotlight. It takes him a long time to warm up to new people, but once he likes you he wants to follow you around and chat all day.

One of his favourite things to do as a kitten was to swing from my long hair like Tarzan. Now he's a big boy, his favourite toy is a plastic wand with multicoloured feathers and a bell on the end. He obliterates them so we always have to have backups around. He has always had a lot of energy, and needs to play regularly or he commits sins (not his fault).

He is a very intelligent cat and has a good understanding of what is allowed vs not allowed - however, he does not care. These sins are his fault.

Shrimp also loves to eat. When he was a kitten, he would only eat an expensive brand of pate that smelled so bad it made me retch. Now he will eat anything and everything. He is not allowed in the kitchen unsupervised after an incident involving an entire pack of mince pies.

He makes some excellent noises and is always making us laugh with them. My personal favourite is "AHWAH", which usually means "thank you".

Shrimp is an indoor cat, but he likes to go out into our yard wearing his harness. He can happily spend a whole afternoon sniffing at things, climbing and investigating any changes.
